Lezlie Smith, Manager of Logistics /
Catering of Olympic Broadcasting Services Vancouver Ltd., discovered Mobile
Kitchens Canada while searching for viable facilities to feed broadcast crews
for the 2010 Olympic Games.
The company required 10 kitchens
throughout the games in Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia.
“The kitchens are easy to work with; a
simple single hook up for electricity, propane, and water and they are good to
go. They provided an excellent temporary solution and many
times I heard from crews that it was ‘the best Olympic food ever’.
The kitchens played a definite role in the caterers' ability to create
healthy and tasty meals.”
The unpredictable weather played havoc
on the original site plans but Mobile Kitchens Canada was able to meet all of
the requirements, adjusting the set-up where necessary.
“Many of the sites ended up being
slightly different, either in terms of allocated space, access or in the level
of land. In one case we discovered a three foot pool in the place
of the nice level land we had inspected just a day or two earlier!
Mobile Kitchens Canada accommodated the change in delivery date with
ease, allowing for the space to receive more gravel and levelling.”
Mobile Kitchens Canada and American
Mobile Kitchens work with foodservice providers and venue management companies
to coordinate mobile kitchens, logistics and support equipment across North
America.
For Robert Arsenault & John Francis,
Coordinator & Senior Manager of Facilities at the 2009 Canada Games, exceptional
project management was critical to the success of the two week event in Prince
Edward Island.
“The ability of Mobile Kitchens Canada
to provide not only the necessary kitchen and preparation trailers to allow us
to establish a full food service venue at a renovated gymnasium/sport centre but
also to arrange for the other ancillary equipment at this site such as portable
washrooms, made for a very successful event and allowed us to concentrate on
other activities without the worry about this element of the venue set-up.”
“We were particularly impressed with the
staff that attended and were available to support the equipment.
The manner in which they conducted themselves when faced with challenges
was beyond reproach.”
Temporary mobile kitchen solutions have
been utilized by many major sporting events across North America as well as
disaster relief efforts, construction relocation projects, military operations,
and movie and television production shoots.
